Anna Nicole story winding down (update: maybe not, I could just be sick of it)

Parties are making nice in the Anna Nicole paternity suit, and this annoying story is surely on its way out of the news cycle. While Birkhead is Anna’s mother’s ally in terms of the custody of Dannielynn, he seems to have agreed with Howard that she should be put to rest in the Bahams according to her supposed wishes. Birkhead and Stern, long feuding over paternity of Anna’s baby and their respective relationships with her, made a surprisingly subdued announcement together that she would be buried in the Bahamas next to her son.

A styrofoam cup that probable Dannielynn-daddy Larry Birkhead drank from at a paternity trial went suspiciously missing, with people assuming that wannabe-daddy Howard K Stern lifted it for some DNA testing of his own.

A day after the cup was lifted, they were said to be negotiating a settlement for custody of the child. If Howard can keep his grubby paws on Anna’s fortune by retaining his rights as executor of her will, he’s supposedly willing to give up the child that he loves and thinks of as his own. It might not be that clear-cut, though, as Howard wants to be named Dannielynn’s trustee if he hands over custody to Birkhead.

Now Birkhead is said to have visited Dannielynn this weekend at Howard and Anna’s squatter mansion in the Bahamas, which is currently for sale. While the owner can’t send Stern packing due to some legal complications, he has rights to sell the place in order to eject the freeloading lawyer. One-time boyfriend of Anna G. Ben Thompson paid $950,000 for the estate last October, which Stern claims is now worth a cool $10 million. The price has undoubtedly gone up due to Anna leaving her tabloid mark on it before her probably drug-induced death.

TMZ had a pretty gross story yesterday with all the gory details of how bodies decompose. They suggest it applies to Anna’s corpse, but at the end they admit that embalmed bodies can last for a year. Her body was said to be deteriorating rapidly before it was finally preserved 10 days after death. Commentor Lulu wrote:

This just in, Anna Nicole Smith is still dead, more to come at 11:00

Update: there’s are also going to be closed hearings in the Bahamas between Howard K Stern and Anna’s mother, Virgie Arthur, over custody of Dannielynn, and now Anna’s body is stuck in legal limbo yet again. There’s a new ruling that she can’t be shipped from Florida to the Bahamas until a challenge is heard from Anna’s mom. Weeping Judge Siedlin rejected Arthur’s request for an appeal to his ruling that the body’s burial place be determined by Dannielynn’s guardian, who then said she will go to the Bahamas. The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals has said that Arthur must be heard out, though, and that Anna’s body has to stay put for the time being.

Maybe this complicated story isn’t fading as fast as I hoped.
